Why we do this.

Celo Pcific’s Ben Jones is based for 6 months in Cambridge, England.

This weekend he took his ‘09 Tarmac Pro SL2 to the top of Alpe d’Huez and sent us this.

Then, a few days later, this…

Standing Room Only

It was standing-room only Monday night for Training Bible Coach Jim Vance’s swim clinic.

Jim answered a ton of questions, debunked several myths, and made a shopfull of swimmers faster!

2009 Tour of the Gila

Cliff’s Notes:
23-year old race almost didn’t happen due to lack of money. SRAM step in with said money. Lance, who owns a bit of SRAM, decides to race “to prepare for the Giro” and takes Levi, who has done quite a bit of SRAM PR these past few weeks. You get the picture.
The UCI declares that the Astana guys cannot race and “controversy” ensues. Irishman Pat McQuaid gets a synopsis that resembles the first paragraph of this post and declares that only 3 members of a Pro Tour team can race (coincidence!) but not as the Pro Tour team they are on. I looked up “arbitrary” on dictionary.com.
BMC are also a Pro Tour team, and are forced to send 5 riders home before the race start. The boys who remain opt for local bike shop Gila Hike and Bike jerseys, a partial parody of the Astana crew racing in Lance’s shop, Mellow Johnny’s, kit.

We’re torn as to whom to support from the full-complement teams there.  Bissell and Ouch are there, Neil Shirley is there with Kelly Benefit Strategies (who lost leader Andy Bajadali on stage one to a broken scapula)…

But in the new 3-man division, we are unafraid to have a clear favourite.

Go Trish!

B+L Tri Team’s Trish Kimper took 1st in her age group and 5th overall at the weekend in the opening race of the 2009 L.A Tri Series at Bonelli Park.  The 60-65 age grouper finished the Sprint distance tri in 1:02.  That’s racing!
